Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters to me, especially when you’re reaching out about something personal. This policy explains what information I collect through this website, why, and how I look after it.
Who I am
This website is run by Mark, trading as Unboggleyourmarbles, a counsellor and hypnotherapist based in Dorset. I am the data controller for the information you share with me, which means I decide how it is used and I’m responsible for keeping it safe.
You can contact me about anything in this policy:
- Email: mark@unboggleyourmarbles.co.uk
- Phone or text: 07968 696 664
What information I collect
When you use the contact form, I receive:
- your name
- your phone number and/or email address
- the town or area you’re based in, if you choose to give it
- how you’d like me to get back to you (call, text or email)
- anything you choose to tell me in your message
Only your name and one way to reach you are required. Please share only what you’re comfortable with. Anything you tell me about your health or wellbeing is treated as special category data and handled with extra care.
When you call, text, email or message me on Facebook, I receive your contact details and whatever you choose to tell me.
If we work together, I keep the information needed to arrange and provide your sessions, such as your contact details, appointment dates and brief session notes.
When you visit the website, I don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking tools. The site doesn’t build a profile of you or follow you around the web.
How I use it and why
I use your information only to:
- reply to your enquiry and arrange your free first chat
- provide counselling and hypnotherapy sessions and keep appropriate records
- meet my legal and professional obligations
I never sell your information, use it for marketing, or add you to a mailing list.
Under UK data protection law, I rely on:
- your consent, which you give when you tick the box on the contact form, to reply to your enquiry
- a contract, when we agree to work together, to arrange and provide your sessions
- your explicit consent, and the provision of health care, to hold any health information you share
- legal obligation, where the law requires me to keep or share certain records
Sharing, storage and security
How enquiries reach me. When you send the contact form, your message is emailed straight to me. It is not saved on the website. If the form shows an error, the answers you typed are held for up to 10 minutes so they can be shown back to you, then deleted.
Who else handles your information. I use a small number of trusted services to run my practice, such as my website host and email provider. They process information only on my behalf and are required to keep it secure.
Confidentiality. What you share in sessions stays confidential. The rare exceptions are when I believe you or someone else is at serious risk of harm, or when the law requires me to share information. Where possible, I’ll talk to you first.
Security. The website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and the form has spam protection. To prevent abuse, the site briefly records a scrambled version of the sender’s internet address, which can’t be turned back into the address, for one hour.
How long I keep it. I keep enquiries only as long as needed to respond and arrange your first chat. If we work together, I keep client records for as long as my professional body and insurers require, then delete them securely.
Cookies and other websites
This website doesn’t use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, so you won’t see a cookie banner. The only cookie it may set is a strictly necessary one: if the contact form shows an error, a cookie lasting 10 minutes lets the site show your answers back to you. It holds a random code, not your details.
The site links to my Facebook page. If you follow that link or message me there, Facebook’s own privacy policy applies to what you share with them.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information I hold about you
- ask me to correct anything that’s wrong or incomplete
- ask me to delete your information, where I don’t need to keep it by law
- withdraw your consent at any time
- object to, or ask me to limit, how I use your information
To use any of these rights, email or call me using the details above. I’ll respond within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
